Proper Focus on God

Whenever we are insecure we look for something or someone to bring us a sense of security. Everyone has a need to feel safe and secure, or least like there is some form of reason among chaos. As Christians our sense of security comes from our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. But, what do you do when you can't feel secure, you turn to something that will make you feel safe. When I got saved everything that I would ever need was supplied through Jesus Christ and my faith in and through Him. Why would I ever turn to anything else? He is the most important thing in my life. Jesus addressed this when talking to the church of Ephesus about where their priorities should be.

Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

(Revelation 2:4-5)

When you don't feel God is enough in your life you turn to things and people to fill the void that only He can fill. Each of us have voids in our lives, and these voids were placed there by sin and can only be filled with love from, and directed to, Jesus Christ. Many people have tried to fill this void with affairs, material things, recreations, and substances, but while these things serve as patches they only create within us a deeper hole than we could ever manage on our own. It is important to understand that our life will always remain in chaos and out of focus as long as we have God out of place in our life. If you want to find peace, and bring your life into focus, put God where He belongs, first in your life, He will accept nothing less.
