Strange Fire

It seems we are in an era where we are seeing miraculous things taking place in the church today. One might even say very supernatural, but I can't help but wonder if some may be stepping out on God. Let me explain. If I were to ask you what the most important thing that God wanted you to take from service on Sunday is, what would be your response? Some would say He wants me to leave happier than I was when I got to church, some would say He wants me to feel His presence, others, He wants me to be filled with His Spirit, so what is true. Remember, above all else God wants us to walk in obedience (1 Samuel 15:22), so that would suggest He wants you to take something away from the service that you could use to guide you into right living. Just because something is done in church does not make it Holy, or right. We are giving an example of perverted holiness a few times in scripture and here is one that stands out......

And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.And there went out fire from the LORD, and devoured them, and they died before the LORD.Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the LORD spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come nigh me, and before all the people I will be glorified. And Aaron held his peace.

(Leviticus 10:1-3)

I think strange fire in our era would be the craziness that goes on under the guise of the Holy Spirit. This does not mean that everything you see happen miraculous is not true, but it does mean not everything you see is of God, and you can be caught up in false doctrine and find yourself battling evil spirits. The Bible warns us that Satan himself disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), so could other evil spirits. The greatest deception of all would be to make someone believe that since they are involved in something at church it is right, think of how many Satan could deceive. The Bible tells us to test every spirit (1 John 4:1) this is a guide to help discern right from wrong and what is truly of God. My warning is to be careful God will not tolerate strange fire.
