Lay Your Burdens Down

Jesus wants us to trust him for all we need or desire in life, but do we? In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus makes two offers to all of us, come to me, and take my yoke. So many times in my life I carry around burdens, and sins, along with other unhealthy stuff, mainly because of my stubborness. I place things on myself that I was never meant to bear, and I allow it to weigh me down. We do have many reasons to come to Jesus but I just want to list a few....

1. So that we have joy.(John 15:11)

2. So that we may be replenished.(John 4:14)

3. So that we may be satisfied.(John 6:35)

If Jesus wants all of this for us, and has promised to give all of this to us, then why are we afraid to come to him, take his yoke, and enjoy some rest? The only answer I can think of is we are yoked to the wrong things in life. To be yoked to something means to be attached to it, and that means that you are joined to go the same direction of what you are yoked to. If yoked to the world, you want nothing to do with Christ, if yoked to Christ you want nothing to do with the world. This is why Jesus said take my yoke, you will only go the same direction as Christ once you join yourself to him. When you go the way of Christ you enjoy the things along that road, which are what we listed earlier, and eternal life. If you join yourself to the world you encounter the things along that road, bondage, affliction, burdens, heartaches, fear, worry, and the list goes on. If you truly want to experience the best this life has to offer, and settle eternity, come to Christ, take his yoke, lay your burdens down at his feet, and he will give you rest....
