Easter, What it Means

I am a sinner saved by grace. This explains every born again person in the family of faith. The bible teaches us that all have sinned and are in need of a savior. We have all at some point broken the laws of God and given in to temptation, which ultimately leads to sin. God has set a standard of righteousness that nobody could ever achieve, without the help of an advocate. Although I, and everyone else ever born could never qualify to be this advocate because of our failure in keeping God's laws, their is one who kept every law, and never sinned. Notice I did not say He was never tempted, only that He never sinned. The bible tells us in speaking of Jesus Christ in the book of Hebrews, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin, He was tempted and never once gave into temptation, HE NEVER SINNED. Because of the life Jesus lived He was made sin for us. Every sin that had ever been, was being, or ever would be committed, was laid on Him for our forgiveness so that we could stand before God as righteous, and not guilty.

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(Romans 5:8)

That is the importance of the cross and the significance of Easter. Jesus died for the sins of the world so that men could be reconciled to God, and sin could be handled for good. He didn't have to die but He chose to die because of His love for you and me. We as Christians should always be mindful of this, but especially at this time of year when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He died on the cross knowing no sin, but taking on the sins of the world. He rose on the third day having defeated death, Hell, and the grave securing our forgiveness for eternity. As we enter into this week leading up to Easter let us reflect and appreciate all that God has done for us through HIs only Son Jesus Christ, and all that Jesus did to mend the bridge between us and God forged by the depths of sin.
