Sent: The Church On Mission
The book of Acts is more than the history of the early church—it is the story of the risen Christ continuing His work through ordinary people empowered by the Holy Spirit.
In Sent: The Church on Mission, we will journey verse-by-verse through Acts 1–12 and discover how God transformed fearful disciples into bold witnesses who carried the gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. Their world was marked by opposition, uncertainty, and cultural hostility, yet the church flourished because God Himself was at work.
This series will challenge us to ask an important question: What does it mean for us to be Christ's witnesses today?
Together we will explore:
- The promise and power of the Holy Spirit
- The priority of prayer and dependence upon God
- The centrality of biblical preaching
- Courage in the face of opposition
- The beauty and purity of the local church
- God's heart for the nations
- The unstoppable advance of the gospel
Acts reminds us that the mission of the church did not end in the first century. The same Spirit who empowered the apostles still empowers believers today. The same gospel that changed Jerusalem still changes lives in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities.
Jesus declared:
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and as far as the remotest part of the earth." — Acts 1:8 (NASB 2020)
Our prayer is that this series will move us from being merely hearers of the mission to becoming participants in it. As we study the early church, may God ignite within us a renewed passion for evangelism, discipleship, prayer, and kingdom service.
The King who preached on the mountain now sends His people into the world.
The question is not whether the church has a mission.
The question is whether we are willing to be sent.
